Kelly's Korner has a great weekly blog called "Show Us Your Life." I've been wanting to start joining in on the fun, and this week's SUYL was Alma Maters. I thought this would be a great time to reminisce and get some of my old fashioned pics scanned into a digital format. We have come a long way in 5 years! ;) Seriously though, I really wish digital cameras were a big thing when I was in college...so many more memories would have been documented!!
I went to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas to major in Education. It is one of the best universities in TX for those who want to be a teacher, and that's what I had wanted to be since I can remember. I loved that Huntsville was a smaller town (coming from a very big Houston) yet it still wasn't too far from home or bigger, more happening places. We probably made a trip to the Woodlands for a little more excitement at least once a week!
My first year I roomed with my high school bestie, Mollye, in the dorm Jackson-Shaver. Great memories!!
I joined a small, local sorority called Sigma Lambda Epsilon, where I made many more great friends and memories!!
After my freshman year, I wanted to live in apartments instead of the dorms which meant I had to get a job. (boo!) I loved living in apartments, but I did not like moving to a new place every year (thank you grown-up life for being more consistent.)
I graduated in December 2006 and moved to Waco where I got a job teaching 2nd grade and married my hubby 2 years later! :)
Dearest Memories:
- Move-in Day & Mollye's memorable bathroom experience
- $5 pizza Mondays watching Smallville with Christie
- Shenanigans and the shadow box
- Living in the trailer with Steph
- Actually being consistent at working out
- Student Teaching
- A couple very
strange different weddings
- Being dead LAST during graduation ceremonies (I got the loudest applause though) ;)
And plenty more that will pop into my head as soon as I hit "publish post"
I am SO glad I went to SHSU! Eat 'Em Up Kats!!
